Follow the below steps to make this simple crochet bag made from (recycled) t-shirt yarn.
Step 1: Make the Base of the bag
Base: Chain 12, sc 6 rows.
Step 2: Make the edges/sides of the bag
Round 1: Flip the base to the left, so the bottom of the base is facing up.
For this one row, you’ll want to use a slightly different stitch to make the sides go up. For this, go from the top, and pull the yarn up from below.
Continue to crochet that way (pulling the yarn up from below), but just for one row. Crochet 2 in each corner (just for this first row).
Note: Switch colours (red, black, pink) as desired between rounds.
Step 3: Make the body of the bag
Now, you can continue with regular stitches. Switch the colours as needed.
Rounds 2-8: Sc.
Step 4. Make the handles
Once the body of the bag is finished, ch 30 for each handle, attaching them to the middle corners of the bag.
Step 5: Finishing touches
